Digital Wellbeing
Digital Wellbeing is a set of Android tools that shows how much time you spend in each app, how often you unlock the phone and how many notifications you get, and lets you limit it with app timers, Bedtime mode and Focus mode. It is found in Settings > Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.
1Dashboard
The dashboard shows screen time per day and per app, unlocks and notifications. Tapping an app shows its history and lets you set a timer.
2App timers and Focus mode
An app timer pauses an app for the rest of the day once its daily limit is reached; the icon turns grey. Focus mode pauses chosen distracting apps while it is on, on a schedule or by hand.
3Bedtime mode
Bedtime mode can turn the screen to greyscale, silence the phone with Do Not Disturb and dim the wallpaper at set hours.
How to set an app timer
- Open Settings > Digital Wellbeing & parental controls.
- Tap Dashboard.
- Tap the hourglass next to the app.
- Choose a daily limit and tap OK.
Cautions
- Some phone makers replace Digital Wellbeing with their own screen-time tools with different names.
- Parental controls for children are set up with Google Family Link, not with these personal timers.
