Find Hub (formerly Find My Device)
Find Hub, formerly called Find My Device, is Google's service for locating a lost Android device. From the Find Hub app or android.com/find you can see the device on a map, make it ring, secure it with a message on the lock screen, or erase it, as long as it was signed in to a Google account with the feature turned on.
1What must be on beforehand
The phone must be signed in to a Google account, have location turned on and the Find Hub setting enabled (Settings > Google > All services > Find Hub, or Settings > Security). Some functions need the phone to be online.
2Options
Play sound rings for five minutes even on silent. Secure device locks the phone and can show a message or phone number. Factory reset device erases it remotely; after that it can no longer be located.
What to do when a phone is lost
- Open android.com/find on a computer, or the Find Hub app on another device, and sign in.
- Select the lost phone and check its location.
- Use Play sound if it is nearby, or Secure device if it may be stolen.
- Erase it only as a last step, and report a theft to the police and your carrier.
Cautions
- Do not try to recover a stolen phone yourself.
- Erasing removes the ability to locate the device.
